Andrea Jenkyns shocked by ex-husband's military service

Dame Andrea Jenkyns expressed shock after learning that her ex-husband, Jack Lopresti, is serving in the Ukrainian military. Lopresti, a former Conservative MP, recently joined the International Legion of Ukraine. He announced his decision on social media last month, calling it an "immense privilege" to help the Ukrainian people. Lopresti, who represented Filton and Bradley Stoke until 2024, revealed that he had been volunteering for the military. His ex-wife, Andrea Jenkyns, said she was unaware of his decision to enter a warzone. They share a seven-year-old son. She learned about his military service through a message from a friend who recognized him on the news. Dame Andrea, who is now a member of Reform UK, said she reached out to Lopresti after hearing the news. "I messaged him to say, stay safe. But what the heck are you doing?" she stated, referencing the dangers of the conflict. She acknowledged that it was ultimately his choice. Lopresti has a background in the UK Army Reserve and is focusing on various areas in Ukraine, including charity work and supporting veterans. He has participated in a UK parliamentary delegation that visited rehabilitation centers and met military leaders.
