American Airlines highlights last routes for Boeing 757-200 before retirement
In early 2020, American Airlines operated several key routes using the Boeing 757-200. The busiest was Dallas/Forth Worth to Miami, with 46 flights. Other significant routes included Dallas/Forth Worth to Philadelphia and Las Vegas. The Philadelphia to Miami route had 15 flights, while the Philadelphia to Cancun route was the top international route, with 12 flights. These routes were part of American's extensive network before the Boeing 757-200 was retired in April 2020. American Airlines had been a major operator of the Boeing 757-200 since 1989. The pandemic accelerated the aircraft's withdrawal, with its usage declining significantly from over 10% of flights in 2004 to just 1.1% in 2019.
