Amazon series adapts Yakuza: Like A Dragon with major changes from the game
The new Amazon Prime series "Like a Dragon: Yakuza" adapts the popular video game franchise but makes significant changes. Unlike the game, it does not include the prequel "Yakuza 0," focusing instead on the original 2005 game and its 2016 remake. In the series, Kiryu's backstory is explored more deeply, showing his rise from orphan to gangster. The reason for his imprisonment is kept mysterious, differing from the game where players know he is innocent from the start. New characters and plot elements are introduced, such as Miho, who plays a crucial role, and Aiko, who may replace a familiar character. The series also adds scenes like a raid on a Dojima arcade and a fighting tournament, altering character involvement in key events.
