Amazon reveals plans for new Alexa+ devices soon
Amazon's devices chief, Panos Panay, recently shared plans for new Alexa+ devices, which may include speakers, smart displays, and even wearables like smart glasses and wrist-worn devices. He emphasizes a commitment to quality, aiming for "perfection in every single product that we ship." In an interview with Bloomberg, Panay outlined his vision for future products across different categories: entry, core, and signature. He described plans to improve hardware, focusing on more affordable and premium options. Notably, he promised longer battery life, better sound quality, and enhanced security features for these devices. The first Alexa+ devices are expected to be released in the fall of 2025, between August and October. Panay assured that these devices would reflect a high standard, with no corners being cut in their development. Previous products and concepts will not limit future innovations. Additionally, Panay hinted at the possibility of Amazon revisiting robotics for home use, including products like the Ring Always Home Cam and Amazon Astro. He also mentioned that augmented reality glasses and new wrist devices could be on the horizon, potentially featuring improved functionalities. Panos indicated that Alexa+ will be central to these new devices, enhancing their capabilities and user experience. The focus will be on providing practical and helpful technology for customers while ensuring attention to detail similar to his previous work with Microsoft's Surface. As Amazon prepares for these new releases, it remains to be seen how many products will be introduced in the fall. However, there is hope for a range of new Echo speakers along with other technology advancements.
