Airlines and airports boost IT investments in cybersecurity, biometrics, and sustainability
Airlines and airports are increasing investments in IT, focusing on cybersecurity, biometrics, and sustainability. A recent report indicates that 74% of airlines and 72% of airports expect to boost IT spending over the next two years. By 2026, over half of airports plan to implement biometric systems for check-in and bag drop, while 70% of airlines will adopt biometric ID management. These technologies aim to enhance passenger processing and reduce wait times significantly. Sustainability efforts are also advancing, with 75% of airlines using real-time software for flight optimization and carbon emissions tracking. More than half are collaborating with Sustainable Aviation Fuel suppliers, marking a notable increase in environmental initiatives compared to last year.
