Air Arabia expands its reach as the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa
Air Arabia, the first low-cost carrier in the Middle East, has expanded significantly since its founding in 2003. It now operates over 200 routes to more than 120 destinations, growing from its initial flights from Sharjah to Bahrain. The airline has remained committed to Airbus, with a fleet of 78 aircraft, including a recent order for 120 new A320neo family planes. Deliveries of the A321XLR, which will enhance its long-range capabilities, are set to begin in 2027. Air Arabia has established bases in multiple countries, including Morocco, Egypt, and Pakistan, while also launching new routes from Ras Al Khaimah. This growth reflects a shift in the region's aviation market, where low-cost carriers are gaining ground against traditional airlines.
