AI tool identifies fake research papers with 94% accuracy
Researchers from the State University of New York and Hefei University of Technology developed an AI tool, xFakeSci, that distinguishes real from AI-generated research papers with 94% accuracy. Trained on nearly 4,000 PubMed articles and tested on 300 fake papers, the tool outperformed traditional methods, which achieved only 38-52% accuracy. The study highlights differences in writing styles between AI and human researchers.
