Adamson beats UE; Ateneo defeats UP in volleyball

In the latest UAAP men’s volleyball match, Adamson University narrowly defeated the University of the East. The match took place at the Mall of Asia Arena. Adamson won with scores of 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 25-17, and 15-12. Leo Coguimbal was a standout for Adamson, scoring 17 points. Despite the loss, UE’s Axel Defeo and Raquim Aceron performed well, scoring 22 and 20 points respectively. This defeat marked the eighth straight loss for the Red Warriors. Coguimbal noted the need for improvement in team skills during training as they head into the second round. In another match, Ateneo secured a convincing victory against the University of the Philippines. The Blue Eagles won in straight sets, 25-16, 25-18, and 25-21. Amil Pacinio led Ateneo with 17 points, while Kennedy Batas added 14 points. This win improved Ateneo's record to 5-3, while UP fell to 2-6. Next week, Ateneo will face Adamson again at the Araneta Coliseum. Both teams will be looking for important wins as the tournament progresses.
