Aaron Ashmore was unaware of Allison Mack's actions

Aaron Ashmore, known for his role as Jimmy Olsen on "Smallville," recently discussed his former co-star Allison Mack and her involvement in the NXIVM sex cult. In a recent podcast episode, he described Mack as warm and friendly, saying she was a wonderful scene partner during their time together. Despite their close working relationship, Ashmore said he had no idea about Mack's legal troubles until they were made public. He mentioned that while there were girls on set who may have been influenced by NXIVM, he was unaware of any connections. Mack was arrested in 2018 for allegedly recruiting women into NXIVM, which involved serious charges like sex trafficking and identity fraud. She initially portrayed the group as one focused on women's empowerment but later faced revelations about its true nature. Court documents revealed troubling details about the organization, including that members had to provide personal compromising information. Mack ultimately pleaded guilty to conspiracy and racketeering in 2019 after several co-conspirators also admitted guilt. Mack faced a three-year sentence and began serving her time in September 2021 before being released in July 2023. She has since expressed remorse for her actions, acknowledging the harm caused to the victims involved. Meanwhile, NXIVM's leader, Keith Raniere, received a 120-year prison sentence for his crimes.
