A24 showcases practical effects in "The Legend of Ochi."
A24 has released a new video for "The Legend of Ochi," aiming to clear up confusion about claims that the film was created using artificial intelligence. The video shows behind-the-scenes footage and emphasizes the practical effects used in the film. Director Isaiah Saxon shared the video, highlighting the extensive work that went into the production. This includes puppetry and traditional matte paintings, which were used to create the film's fantasy settings. These elements directly respond to concerns raised by fans when the film was first announced. Since its announcement, some fans had alleged that "The Legend of Ochi" was made with AI technology. Saxon has consistently denied these claims. The film is set to open in theaters on April 25, 2025. This project marks Saxon’s first feature film as a director, and he also wrote the screenplay. The story follows Yuri, a shy farm girl from a remote village on the island of Carpathia. She is taught to fear a mysterious species called ochi. However, when she finds an injured baby ochi, she sets off on a journey to bring it home.
