China sent a large group of warplanes and navy ships towards Taiwan over two days, according to Taiwan's defense ministry. The Chinese People's Liberation Army sent a total of 38 warplanes and 9 navy vessels around Taiwan, with 55 planes and navy ships crossing the unofficial boundary of the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan is scheduled to hold annual military exercises later this month to defend against a possible invasion. China claims Taiwan as its own territory and has been increasing military activities near the island in recent years.
