The Met Office has issued a warning for "strong winds and heavy rain" as Storm Ciarán is expected to hit the UK later this week. Wind gusts of up to 80mph are predicted along the south coast, with some exposed areas potentially experiencing speeds of up to 90mph. Additionally, up to 60mm of rain is forecasted to fall in certain areas. The Environment Agency has currently issued 72 flood warnings and 172 flood alerts in England, while Scotland has 18 flood warnings and 11 flood alerts in place. This is the third named storm of the season, following the damage caused by Storm Babet last week.
