A study published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine found that hospitalization due to COVID-19 increased the medium-term risk of multiorgan abnormalities. The study, conducted in the UK, used MRI scans to evaluate the prevalence of multiorgan impairments in patients who had recovered from COVID-19. The findings showed a higher incidence of lung, brain, and kidney abnormalities among post-hospitalized COVID-19 patients compared to healthy controls, and these abnormalities were associated with persistent mental and physical impairments.
