20,000+ volunteers join to speed up dementia drug development

Over 20,000 volunteers have joined a resource to accelerate dementia drug development. By 2050, 139 million people are expected to have dementia globally. The Genes and Cognition Cohort, part of the NIHR BioResource, aims to study cognitive changes and recruit participants for clinical trials. Inflammation and metabolism have been identified as key factors in cognitive decline. Early intervention could delay dementia onset. Funding and participation in research are crucial.
