18-year-old arrested after ramming police vehicle in Oldham
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Oldham after he rammed a stolen car into a police vehicle during a chase on March 24. Officers in the Derker area spotted the car being driven suspiciously and tried to pull it over. Instead of stopping, the driver crashed into the police vehicle and fled on foot with other occupants. Police quickly detained one suspect, while others escaped. After searching the car, they found drugs, a baseball bat, and a machete sheath. The arrested man faces several charges, including drug possession, and driving without a license or insurance. This incident is part of Greater Manchester Police's Operation Vulcan, aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behavior. In recent weeks, police have made 22 arrests, seized 13 cars, and confiscated several weapons and drugs. Inspector Dan Cullum emphasized the success of their operation, stating the team’s presence is already making a positive impact in the community. He encouraged residents to continue reporting any suspicious activities so police can address their concerns.
