Zoo animals delight in rare snowfall at Houston Zoo

Houston Zoo animals enjoyed a rare snowfall last week as a snowstorm hit Texas. Videos showed an Asian elephant and a North American river otter playing in the snow, while sea lions splashed in their pool. Houston has recorded snow only 11 times since 1920. This snowfall brought 2 to 4 inches to parts of Southeast Texas, leading to temporary school and travel disruptions. Blizzard warnings were issued for some areas. Zoo staff ensured animal safety during the storm, providing specialized care. The snow has melted, and temperatures are now around 44°F (7°C), with rain expected soon.
