Zelensky Fires SBU and GUR Deputy Chiefs After Kyiv Shooting

President Zelensky announced the dismissal of deputy heads of the SBU and GUR following a shooting incident between employees of the two agencies. Two suspects have been identified, and an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing. The president stated that both deputies will be fired as they are responsible for the situation, emphasizing that both structures acted improperly. He discussed the matter with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, and official assessments of the agency heads will follow the internal investigation's results. The incident stems from the September 1 abduction of Russian Volunteer Corps commander Stepan Kaplunov, followed by a shootout in Kyiv on September 2. Kaplunov later claimed SBU agents kidnapped him and held him in a secret prison, while the SBU released a video of him admitting ties to Russia's FSB.
