Zelensky condemns rival Ukrainian spy agencies for Kyiv gunfight during anti-terror operation

The clash occurred between members of the Security Service (SBU) and Defence Intelligence Unit (DIU) in a courtyard, with the SBU claiming it was ambushed while foiling a plot to kill Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the anti-Kremlin Russian Volunteer Corps. Zelensky demanded accountability and internal investigations, stating firearms should only be used against Russian occupiers. Kaplunov's lawyer dismissed the SBU's narrative as a "PR stunt," claiming the Russian-born fighter had been abducted and later released. Zelensky has since fired SBU official Oleh Khramov, though a link to the shootout remains unclear.
