Yadea launches new electric motorbike featuring innovative sodium-ion battery technology
Yadea, the world's largest electric vehicle maker, has launched a new electric motorbike using its sodium-ion battery technology. This new battery offers fast charging, safety features, and good performance in cold weather, differing from the company's previous reliance on lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries. The sodium battery can charge to 80% in just 15 minutes and has passed over 20 safety tests. It has an energy density of 145 Wh/kg and a lifespan of up to 1,500 cycles, with a three-year warranty. Sodium-ion batteries are more sustainable and less prone to overheating than lithium-ion batteries. While they currently have lower energy density, advancements are being made, which could lead to wider adoption in the electric vehicle industry.
