World's rarest mineral kyawthuite found only once in Myanmar
A mineral called kyawthuite is the rarest in the world, with only one specimen ever found. Discovered in Myanmar in 2010, it weighs just a third of a gram and was initially mistaken for another mineral. Gemologist Kyaw Thu purchased the stone, later realizing its uniqueness after sending it to a lab. Experts confirmed it has a chemical structure never seen in nature, linking it to synthetic bismuth antimonate. Kyawthuite is characterized by its orange color and unique inclusions. It is believed to have formed in volcanic rock. The mineral is considered priceless and is currently displayed at the National History Museum of Los Angeles County.
