World's largest iceberg A23a breaks apart

obozrevatel.com (Ukrainian)

The world's largest iceberg, A23a, is breaking apart and is expected to disintegrate by the end of autumn. Scientists from the University of Colorado predict the iceberg's demise, noting that while such events are spectacular, this one is occurring in an area where icebergs of its size cannot survive. A23a calved from Antarctica 40 years ago, remained grounded for decades, and began drifting north in 2020. Its breakup is attributed to natural processes, not climate change.
