World population to peak at 10.3 billion by mid-2080s

The United Nations predicts the world population will peak at 10.3 billion in the mid-2080s, lower than the previous estimate of 10.4 billion. Global birth rates are declining, with over half of countries below the replacement level of 2.1 births per woman. By 2024, 63 countries have already peaked in population, with a 14% decline expected in countries like China and Russia. Nine countries will experience rapid growth.
