euronews.com

A working group will study extending Scotland's Caledonian Sleeper train service beyond London to mainland Europe, potentially creating a direct rail link between Scotland and the continent. The feasibility study, announced on 4 August, involves Transport Scotland, Scottish Rail Holdings and Caledonian Sleeper. It will assess technical, commercial and practical challenges, with findings expected to inform future decisions. Cabinet Secretary Stephen Flynn called it an important first step. Caledonian Sleeper currently runs overnight between London Euston and five Scottish destinations, operating six nights a week. It is one of only two UK sleeper services.
