Workers doubt commitment to pay equity despite new transparency laws
A new report from Beqom reveals that many workers still lack confidence in pay transparency, despite recent laws requiring salary disclosures in 14 states. Only 38% of surveyed employees understand how their pay is determined. Nearly 60% of U.S. workers reported that their employers do not disclose gender pay gaps. Additionally, 40% said their salaries were not adjusted for inflation in 2024, and almost half experienced wage stagnation over the past year. The gender pay gap worsened in 2023, with women earning 83 cents for every dollar men make. Experts note that while progress has been made, significant challenges remain in achieving pay equity.
