Women outvote men in Jammu and Kashmir election phase three with 70% turnout

In the third phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections on October 1, female voter turnout reached 70.02%, surpassing male turnout at 69.37%. This phase saw 23 seats with higher female participation, including five from the Kashmir region. Overall, 40 constituencies recorded more women voting than men. In previous phases, only one seat from Kashmir had higher female turnout. The average turnout for men across all 90 seats was 64.68%, while women's was 63.04%. The elections, held in three phases starting September 18, recorded a total turnout of 63.88%, an increase from 58.58% in the Lok Sabha polls. Results for all 90 seats will be announced on October 8.
