Woman in Manjalpur loses Rs 10 lakh in digital scam involving fake police call
A 43-year-old woman in Manjalpur lost over Rs 10 lakh in a digital arrest scam. She reported the incident to the Cybercrime police after receiving a call about a parcel containing illegal material. The caller, posing as a courier employee, claimed an FIR was filed against her. He then transferred her to a man pretending to be a police inspector, who demanded her identity documents and threatened her. Under pressure, the woman showed her debit card and was instructed to transfer Rs 10 lakh, with a promise of a refund. After the transfer, she realized it was a scam when the caller disconnected.
