Woman gives birth at Lisbon airport after arriving from Cape Verde

A 34-year-old woman gave birth to a boy on Saturday at Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport shortly after arriving from Cape Verde. She was 39 weeks pregnant and went into labor at the terminal. Emergency services were called, but the rapid labor prevented transport to a hospital, with the birth occurring around 4:30 p.m. in the arrivals area. Mother and newborn were taken to Maternidade Alfredo da Costa, where both are reported to be in good health. The woman was traveling with her six-year-old daughter, who was handed to the father waiting at arrivals. The birth turned a routine arrival into an unexpected event for the family.
