Woman finds northerners in England more sociable
A Spanish woman living in Manchester, England, has found the people in the north of England to be more sociable and open than she expected. She has lived there for nine years and plans to stay for the time being. Marta Andrés, originally from Gijón, Spain, moved to Manchester in 2016 and quickly adapted to the culture. She found the people in the north of England to be more welcoming than the stereotype suggests, though social gatherings are less frequent than in Spain. While she misses aspects of Spanish life, like the food and social customs, she enjoys the multicultural environment of Manchester and the nearby Peak District. She plans to return to Gijón eventually.
