Woman dies in Placer County crash as drunk driver faces manslaughter charges

A woman died in a car crash early Tuesday in Placer County, California. The California Highway Patrol reported that a man, William Bryan Cubias-Martinez, 26, was driving under the influence when the vehicle overturned. The crash occurred around 1:20 a.m. on Highway 65. A 24-year-old woman was ejected from the car due to not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries. Cubias-Martinez sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. He has since been released, arrested, and booked into the Placer County Jail on charges of felony vehicle manslaughter.
