Woman critically injured in Perth car accident

A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car on a major highway in Perth. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning on Tonkin Highway near Morley Drive East in Bayswater. Emergency services responded quickly after reports of the accident at about 4:15 a.m. The injured woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by 5:25 a.m. The driver’s condition is not known. The crash has caused major traffic delays. There is heavy congestion at the Reid Highway and Tonkin Highway intersection. The Incident Response Team and police are still on the scene. Main Roads WA has advised drivers to take alternative routes and allow extra travel time, especially those heading to Perth Airport. Detours are currently in place.
