Woman assaulted and robbed by teenagers in Winnipeg
A woman was attacked and robbed by teenagers while walking to work in downtown Winnipeg on Saturday night. The incident happened around midnight on Portage Avenue between Langside and Balmoral streets. The 23-year-old woman was heading to her night shift when a group of teenagers followed her. They caught up to her, knocked her to the ground, and began to punch and kick her. The group demanded her belongings. Fortunately, a bystander intervened by shouting at the attackers. This caused the teenagers to stop the assault and flee the scene. The woman was treated for her injuries and is now in stable condition. Police have said that the incident was recorded on video surveillance. They arrested three suspects. A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were charged with robbery and remain in custody. A 12-year-old girl has also been charged but was released on an undertaking.
