Woman and son protest at Aryanad police station over delayed arrests in assault case

A woman and her son staged a sit-in protest at the Aryanad police station after police failed to arrest the accused in their brutal assault case. The protest follows their release from a medical college hospital where they were treated for serious injuries. Soumya (38) and her son Vipin (20) were attacked on July 20, leaving Soumya with a fractured shoulder and ribs, and Vipin with spinal injuries. Relatives allege police are deliberately delaying arrests to allow the accused to obtain anticipatory bail. The dispute reportedly stems from a land deal involving the Little Flower Estate owner. Police have registered a case against four local residents, including Shiju and his wife Lija. Soumya claims this is the second time the same group has violently attacked them, with the previous incident also going unpunished.
