WNBA reveals Toronto Tempo as new Canadian team name
The WNBA has announced its new Canadian team, the Toronto Tempo, following a record year for women's basketball viewership. Over 10,000 name suggestions were submitted before the official name was revealed. The Tempo will be the first WNBA team outside the U.S. and is part of the league's expansion plans, aiming for 16 teams by 2028. The team will play at Toronto's Coca-Cola Coliseum starting in 2026. The team's logo features a basketball with a "T" and six lines representing players and fans. The franchise is owned by Kilmer Sports Ventures, led by Larry Tanenbaum, who also owns other Toronto sports teams.
