"Wicked" director cut romantic scenes between Glinda and Fiyero. Director Jon M. Chu filmed love scenes between Ariana Grande's Glinda and Jonathan Bailey's Fiyero but removed them. Co-writer Dana Fox stated the scenes were "a little too passionate" and cut to maintain narrative flow. The musical film, based on Gregory Maguire's novel, depicts the untold friendship between Elphaba and Glinda. The cut kiss scene was deemed too romantic, potentially alienating audiences when Fiyero ultimately chooses Elphaba. The film is set for a March 2026 release in Japan.
