WHO countries draft treaty for future pandemics
WHO member countries have agreed on a draft pandemic treaty aimed at improving the global response to future health crises, following the COVID-19 pandemic. The treaty, expected to be adopted next month, sets guidelines for international cooperation, including ensuring equitable access to vaccines and medicines developed from shared virus samples. The U.S. and Argentina are not expected to sign the treaty. The agreement includes provisions for dispute resolution and aims to address shortcomings in the global response to COVID-19, though enforcement mechanisms remain limited.
