Western Railway's smart timetable targets Borivali congestion
Western Railway will implement a "smart timetable" from September 1 to tackle peak-hour congestion at Borivali station, retaining all 1,414 daily suburban services while reshuffling train paths and halts. Two Churchgate–Virar services will skip Borivali on a trial basis to reduce delays. The 18:22 AC and 19:05 Churchgate–Virar trains will bypass Borivali, though an AC alternative at 18:28 will still halt there, and both affected services will continue stopping at Dahisar. Six new services will replace six low-demand ones, and weekday AC services will increase from 145 to 147. Additional changes include a direct Dadar–Dahanu Road service, an extended Virar–Churchgate morning train, and new late-night services between Bhayandar, Borivali, and Virar. The 10:24 Churchgate–Borivali AC slow will now terminate at Goregaon.
