Werder Bremen join race for Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy
Werder Bremen have joined the race to sign Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy, with the Bundesliga club seeking a defensive midfielder. The 26-year-old Frenchman is also attracting interest from Villarreal, Getafe, Genoa, and Torino. Mendy, who stands 1.91m tall, made his breakthrough at Angers and has played over 100 games for Trabzonspor and Sevilla in the last three seasons. He returned to Trabzonspor this summer after his loan at Sevilla ended, but the Turkish club are open to a permanent transfer before his contract expires next year. Sevilla declined to sign Mendy permanently after he lost his starting spot late last season. His €7 million market value could prove challenging for Werder Bremen, according to Footmercato. Mendy has represented France at U19 level, while Trabzonspor are reportedly pursuing a sensational move for Mohamed Salah.
