WeChat has denied offering a feature that lets users view contacts who have deleted them, following online rumors about a one-click tool. The company clarified that no such function is currently available to any user. The speculation arose after social media posts claimed a feature existed for users with 10,000 friends, the platform's contact limit. Tencent customer service confirmed that when this limit is reached, a pop-up shows some contacts to help users decide whom to remove, but it does not provide a full list of deleted contacts. WeChat has long avoided proactive deletion notifications to protect user privacy, leaving users to discover they are blocked only when sending a message fails. Third-party tools claiming to detect such contacts are officially banned due to security risks, including data leaks and account theft.
