Wayland Secures $100K State Grant for Municipal Energy Upgrades

Wayland, Massachusetts will receive $100,475 from the state's Green Communities Competitive Grant Program to fund municipal energy upgrades, part of over $8 million distributed to 57 communities. The funding, announced Tuesday by the Healey-Driscoll administration, supports eligible projects like high-efficiency lighting, weatherization, and heat pumps. Across all communities, the projects are expected to save $701,411 annually in energy costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions by 1,634 metric tons per year. State officials did not specify which Wayland projects will be funded. Since 2010, Massachusetts has awarded over $208 million through the program, reducing municipal energy costs by more than $30 million annually.
