Water supply restored in Karachi after pipeline repairs complete

Water supply has resumed in several areas of Karachi after repairs to an 85-inch pipeline on University Road were completed. The pipeline had burst on November 29, leading to a shutdown of water pumps at the Dhabeji Pumping Station. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) had warned of significant water loss during the repairs, which began on December 3. Areas affected included Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Saddar, where residents were advised to conserve water. Repair work involved over 300 laborers and heavy machinery, focusing on extensive de-silting and fixing damage caused by construction drilling. The repairs were completed ahead of schedule, restoring water supply to the affected neighborhoods.
