Warhorse Co-Founder Hopes GTA 6 Raises Game Prices Industry-Wide
Warhorse Studios co-founder Martin Klima said in a PC Gamer interview that he hopes Grand Theft Auto VI will raise game prices industry-wide, calling increases "long overdue" and "necessary for this business to survive." Klima argued Rockstar/Take-Two is the only company that "can afford, or who can dare" to raise prices, which would then "allow us to increase the cost" for other developers. He also criticized GTA 6, saying he won't play it unless forced and that its popularity "beats me." The comments sparked backlash online, though Klima's view reflects that games cost less in real terms than in past decades. Whether higher prices alone can address the industry's rising costs and shrinking consumer spending remains uncertain.
