Wales has £83m unclaimed Child Trust Fund as UK young adults miss out

More than 750,000 unclaimed Child Trust Fund accounts hold an average of £2,000 for UK young people aged 18-23, who must actively claim the money. The accounts were created for children born between 2002 and 2011 with government vouchers. Many owners don't know they exist; one man only discovered his £4,000 after his social worker mentioned it. Parents could top them up, and additional payments were made at age seven. The Share Foundation, which helps trace accounts, estimates £83m remains unclaimed in Wales alone.
