Waikato mother and baby die from uterine rupture during childbirth

A mother and her baby died during childbirth due to a rare uterine rupture. Maria Neho experienced a catastrophic uterine rupture and severe hemorrhage during labor at home. An ambulance was called, and she was transferred to Waikato Hospital where an emergency C-section was performed, but both she and her baby were declared dead. An inquest is underway in Hamilton to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, focusing on the care provided by her midwife, St John, and hospital staff.
