Vinyl records of train sounds attract collectors as vintage genre gains popularity
Vinyl records are gaining attention for their unique genre: recordings of train sounds. Unlike streaming services, which lack this vintage content, collectors can find these LPs in second-hand stores or online marketplaces. Many of these records date back to the 1970s, featuring sounds from famous trains like the Flying Scotsman. A dedicated label, ASV Transacord, produced a variety of railway sound effect records during that time. Today, these records can be purchased for around $10 on eBay. In the 1970s, they were available by mail order for about ten shillings and sixpence, roughly $20 today.
