Villar Group to donate land for LRT-1 Las Piñas station

The Villar Group of Companies is set to sign an agreement with the Philippine government to donate land for the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Las Piñas Station, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced Thursday. LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said the Villar group is confident two mortgaged parcels of land will be released this September, after which they will sign a memorandum of agreement. The deal grants the government access to the property 30 days after signing, following earlier delays in the station's construction. The station is part of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project, which broke ground in 2019. Cabrera estimated construction could take three years, including property acquisition and design, with completion bringing the total LRT-1 stations to 28.
