Vikings interested in Ryan Tannehill, not Aaron Rodgers
The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly interested in quarterback Ryan Tannehill. This news comes as they have decided not to pursue Aaron Rodgers, who was previously a target for the team. The Vikings had reached out to Tannehill, who has experience with the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins. The Vikings are likely to start J.J. McCarthy, their first-round pick from last year. McCarthy missed the entire season due to knee surgery, which opened the door for Sam Darnold to take over as starting quarterback. Darnold performed well and has since signed with the Seattle Seahawks. At 36 years old, Tannehill might be an appealing option for the Vikings as they seek backup quarterback depth. He did not play last season and had spent the previous five years with the Titans. Before that, he played seven seasons with the Dolphins after being drafted in 2012. The Vikings have confirmed they are not chasing after Rodgers, focusing instead on McCarthy's development as the starting quarterback. Meanwhile, Rodgers is weighing his options after being released by the Jets. Other teams, like the Giants and Steelers, are showing interest in him. This offseason, several other veteran quarterbacks are also looking for teams. Russell Wilson remains without a contract after a challenging season with the Steelers. Meanwhile, the Giants have signed Jameis Winston but may look to draft another quarterback soon. Matthew Stafford remains with the Rams, and Justin Fields has signed with the Jets after a season with the Steelers. Additionally, Geno Smith was recently traded from Seattle to the Las Vegas Raiders.
