Vijay Deverakonda defends legal promotion of skill games

Vijay Deverakonda has been named in a police complaint along with 24 others for allegedly promoting illegal betting apps. The complaint suggests that his endorsement of these apps is damaging and leads to financial problems for many families. In response to the allegations, Deverakonda’s team issued a statement. They clarified that he only promoted legal skill-based games, not gambling apps. The team emphasized that his contract was limited to regions where such games are allowed by law. The police complaint also names other public figures, including Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj. The FIR claims that they promoted a game called Junglee Rummy through online ads. Deverakonda is specifically accused of endorsing A23 Rummy. His team stated that skill-based games, like rummy, are recognized by India's Supreme Court as legal, distinguishing them from gambling. They assured fans that all brand partnerships are thoroughly checked to comply with legal standards. According to the FIR, these gambling platforms target vulnerable people, encouraging them to invest their money. This has led to serious financial issues for many families, driving some into debt.
