Victorian construction projects face delays due to shortages

Numerous construction projects across Victoria are experiencing delays due to rising costs and labor shortages, impacting infrastructure and housing initiatives. An audit by the Victorian Auditor-General's Office revealed that various projects, including regional rail upgrades and public housing, are behind schedule. The Gippsland train line upgrade, initially slated for 2022, is now expected to finish later in 2025. These delays, categorized using a traffic light system, range from four to six months (amber) to over six months (red). The construction sector's challenges are impacting the timely completion of essential state projects.
