The breach involved unauthorized access to data stored by an external billing partner, impacting names, addresses, email addresses, and personal identification numbers of current and former Alert Alarm customers. Verisure's stock initially fell 5%. Police have launched an investigation into extortion and aggravated data intrusion. Verisure stated their own networks were not compromised.
