Vellore Corporation begins linking main sewer lines in drainage project

The Vellore Corporation has started linking main sewer lines as part of its Underground Drainage system. This process aims to identify leaks before fully operating the drainage services. Currently, about 90% of the system is complete. The project, initiated in 2019, covers all 60 wards and includes 750 km of sewer lines, 16 pumping stations, and two sewage treatment plants. The remaining work is expected to be finished by May. In addition to the sewer work, the Corporation has re-laid around 170 km of roads in completed areas to minimize disruption during the monsoon season.
